Tired of waiting after a long running CLI 💻 ? Introducing Notee, a very basic wrapper that will notify you once the command is done. So you can enjoy reddit while it's running in the background.

Going live in 5mns to dive into Yarn 2.x. I can't promise my prolog will work on the first try though 😛

It seems popular enough, so I'll be doing that on Saturday 9am PT on the following url. If you have an open-source app we can dig into the migration together ✌️

If you think this API is cool send your gratitude to who also recently added support for async iteration to the on event.

So it turns out you definitely don't want to do this as it could cause memory leaks 😅 There is another API you can use `events.once` which does exactly what I was trying to do and has been around for almost a year

Yarn 2 changes things. Its introduction might ruffle feathers, but all changes do. It's a breath of fresh air in a package ecosystem that has been held hostage by old choices for so long, our Stockholm syndrome has convinced us everything is fine.

Things are fine, dramas are bad, don't spend too much time on Twitter, and try a bit of Prolog someday - it's a sweet paradigm, even if you never use it 🙂

However, I also wanted to bring clarity that at FB, we are not using it because the migration is insurmountable to us at the moment. So people shouldn’t feel bad about staying on an old version — for now, we are going to, as well. The new version was not developed at Facebook.

Don’t know if this is referring to me, but I wanted to clarify neither me nor any FB employee I know of are “against” the new version. I think it makes some bold interesting choices, and is a direction very much worth exploring!

We should be doing awesome things that make us happy and proud. As I previously said, I don't want to build tools *for* you, I want to build tools *with* you. In a world where open source maintainers are more and more exploited, I find important to keep what matters in sight.

I was wondering - would you be interested if I was hosting a one or two hours live Twitch session to go over Yarn 2, its goals, architecture, governance, trivia, etc?

Finally just look at history: the only thing that has been causing compatibility issues with npm in the past have been different hoisting rules, never the `link:` protocol. And that's what we are fixing with predictable guaranteed.

But really, I can't praise enough. They have been nothing but supportive of my work, even spending resources on helping me review my talks & articles. A good Javascript doggo 🐕
