I give Microsoft money too and still express disagreement with DRM. No one even calls that drama or has any issue with my post. MVG made a video. Why is it different here?

It’s different because 1) this only applies to beta releases and 2) there is no “drm” on the final free public release. It’s definitely not a 1:1 comparison.

So in your view DRM is fine so long as it's removed at the time of release--but you realize that it actually goes the opposite direction in most cases right?

…and in those cases I fully agree with you. Technically I suppose you can label this as “DRM”, but we both know that functionally it’s not the same as DRM in the traditional sense.

This is DRM. If it persisted after release, it would be super bad! Even just for beta, it still has privacy concerns and security risks. But it's strictly opt-in and stable cores are open source & DRM-free, so I'm overall OK with it.

hmm? What privacy concerns and security risks are there? I feel like I'm missing something.

If they're relevant? I don't know what they are which is why I sought clarification and not trolling of the person.

In context of the Linux subsystem that can NOT be updated properly, the out of date Kernel, the exploitable Bluetooth vulnerability, and the root password of "1" the conversation gets immediately funny.

At least one of those falls on you to fix and not the vendor. and this is what's referred to as whataboutism and is a deflection of the actual question.

Don't get it twisted, in "security" this is what is called "threat modeling", and understanding "risk". Your whataboutism need not apply to the reality of the situation that this is a completely unsecured embedded platform.
