Read it...and I both agree and don't agree. If we're locking this data to just MiSTer usage, then yes...the SFP is the key metric we should use as well for any 60 FPS system. (1/4)

But the applicability of the data is beyond MiSTer and provides strong, technical baseline on which to judge controllers for any environment. (2/4)

If someone is wondering on a new controller for PC gaming then SFP has changed. But there's so many variables when it comes to PCs (eg, is vsync on with an HFR panel?) that StdDev is useful in this case as it can better tune expectation around more variable gaming systems. (3/4)

While the data is built on MiSTer and is only 1:1 applicable for MiSTer, it does provide solid data for other gaming environments, and hopefully any future work you do takes this into consideration. (4/4)

I see where you're coming from and agree. Unfortunately, SD is still a pretty bad metric to this end. What we want are metrics that describe the shape of the distribution (percentiles/IQR). SD is really only useful if we already have an idea of the shape. (1/2)

I've got some ideas for how to handle this in the future. The gist is that we record and publish the raw values (along with the usual stuff + IQR + SFP at 60/144/240) so none of this information is lost. Then anyone can perform whatever analysis they want. (2/2)
