Elitism? I don't know anyone who thinks they're elite for grabbing a MiSTer FPGA .I'm pretty sure most people who own a MiSTer also have emulators whether it be handheld, PC or in Pi form Enjoy your Pi. Has anyone from the community talked down on you for playing on your pi?

Well I just don't understand your problem then. I only got into MiSTer a few months ago, had all the problems everyone else had, asked the same questions everyone else had and still got answers. I repeat, don't blame the community for issues you seem to have with devs.
