Dumbass, you can literally just order the parts yourself, and make them without giving Sorg any money. He uploaded the PCB files to GitHub. You can also buy a preassembled board off eBay, AliExpress, etc. they don’t give money to sorg. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/wiki/SDRAM-Board-Assembly-(DIY) …

oh Allie, you "dumbass"! Ya realize you aren't supposed to feed trolls, right? Step back, analyze the discussion a bit deeper, you'll eventually get it. Or you won't & you'll keep defending people as being heroes, when they are actually closet villains with an "official" agenda.

I don’t think sorg or any of the mister project developers are heroes or villains. I have many many complaints with the project and sorg, kitrinx, etc. but you regularly engage in such bad faith trolling, and I find that frustrating and sorta disgusting.

why is there for example an "official memory tester"? Seems to imply there is an unofficial one? Where does the faith in that regard come from? Certainly it is bad faith to put out that things have to be in an "official" capacity eh?pic.twitter.com/QuEEUk4VVz

These are both very simple to understand. Official in this case means the memory tester core included in the mister repos, official capacity means capacities of SDRAM actually used by the framework and cores.

The whole original post by @magelocc was about sorg getting their money, my entire point is that there are many ways to make a MiSTer without giving sorg anything.

"many ways to make a MiSTer without giving sorg anything", but can you really call it MiSTer at that point? If it ain't "official" cores, on "official" hardware, with "official" devs involved, it just *isn't* "official" period. Go ask someone on THE "official"

what are you even talking about. You can run all official cores, use the SDRAM board sorg designed, and have the exact same experience as every other Mister user. In fact, that’s an intended use case. It’s why they upload things like the PCB files to GitHub

"and have the exact same experience as every other Mister user" oh no on my dear. You can VERY quickly be attacked for your "setup" being "different" or "not official". For example an unofficial "RTC". Ask
@VEsoterica about his Konami jingle. He's surely done something wrong. ;)pic.twitter.com/vjkw1N17p8

Therein lies the issue; who determines “official”. That’s normally the domain of the owner / manufacturer. In this instance there is no “owner”. I’d hate to see MiSter eat it’s own tail due to its open nature. Openness is awesome but not at the expense of incompatible parts

God I feel like it took all afternoon to get there! You nailed it after that tag in. Well done sir. There IS an owner though, those closest to the project, with their oh so powerful words. With the flick of a tongue, ANYTHING can become "unofficial", not supported, or "useless".pic.twitter.com/hokvVQIMRw
