That really sucks, i already switch everything off before plugging in monitors/tvs, now I'll be even more vigilant though.. sometimes I plug controllers/sticks in and out while the mister is on, should I avoid this too?

De10 nano has unbuffered or unprotected hdmi port. Damages can happen, also it leaks power on the HDMI. It is a dev board after all. More reason to be carefull.
