I thought all you needed is a RS-485 transceiver plus a cheap USB to UART converter, as this kind of inexpensive (<$2) adapters. Si, not User IO port needed really (nor IOBoard, just connect this to the USB-OTG Cable (or to a USB HUB):https://es.aliexpress.com/item/33017179197.html …

Some of us are academics... I don't care for USB transport. I wanna go raw. RS485 was never meant to travel over USB bus. Sure, it CAN, and it works fine. We helped bang out the solution already. Now we are taking a deep dive for artisanal pleasure.

I understand, but at the end is all a trade off between latency and the available GPIOs you want to expend on the JVS adapter. I see the 7x USER_IO GPIOs too valuable, that’s why I’m suggesting that alternative USB via, you for sure already knew. USB HID is really low latency now.

"the available GPIOs you want to expend on the JVS adapter" I only need 2 pins, there are plenty available, and the USERIO port is already dedicated to the task. Again, we already have USB RS485 working. We've been using it all month. =] https://github.com/ArcadeHustle/FiSTer-JVS-IO#verified-openjvs-support …pic.twitter.com/KR87dmzPdM

I’m totally aware of the JVSCore project. I have talked with @marcusjordan about it. For me use just 1 extra GPIO would be a waste of resources IMHO 😇. The USB endpoints are 127 if I’m not wrong. I just have another vision on how to use the available I/O of the DE10, that’s all.

It all should literally be config specific. My desire to use JVS shouldn't tie up any IO that you are using for example. No reason for it to. Once the landscape opens up these sorts of things will be trivial.

This and other I/Os will be very easy to configure by hw, and to expand on the future @xtreme_mister boards... Stay tuned 😎
