I thought all you needed is a RS-485 transceiver plus a cheap USB to UART converter, as this kind of inexpensive (<$2) adapters. Si, not User IO port needed really (nor IOBoard, just connect this to the USB-OTG Cable (or to a USB HUB):https://es.aliexpress.com/item/33017179197.html …
Some of us are academics... I don't care for USB transport. I wanna go raw. RS485 was never meant to travel over USB bus. Sure, it CAN, and it works fine. We helped bang out the solution already. Now we are taking a deep dive for artisanal pleasure.
I understand, but at the end is all a trade off between latency and the available GPIOs you want to expend on the JVS adapter. I see the 7x USER_IO GPIOs too valuable, that’s why I’m suggesting that alternative USB via, you for sure already knew. USB HID is really low latency now.
Also, in context "I see the 7x USER_IO GPIOs too valuable" if you are in a JVS environment, all your input is coming over those 2 pins anyway. The rest of your fancy IO really need not APPLY, unless it has it's own JVS node within to daisy chain.
