      It's all about the commercial side of it, while companies encourage devs to engage in OSS. Going 100% free is a challenge, sometimes just because they're not going to provide support to 100% of that code. So most businesses will try to stay away from GPL.

      Companies I've worked for stay away from GPL because of the viral risks.

      The #MiSTerFPGA project is struggling to understand @fsf oriented GPL at the hands of @Kitrinx @sentientsixp and @alexey_saarsoft. They should have stayed from it for this exact reason.
