I think improving the local security on MiSTer would be a good goal. The update scripts scare me, getting a change into an update script repo means running code as root on many MiSTers.

If people only knew how easy and trivial it is. They would keep offline! MiSTer running on it's default state is as secure as any of those IP cameras and IoT devices that gets hacked all the time. It's a big attack vector to your private network.
