What’s the point of a complex menu with attract mode? I guess if you are that operator that runs a multi system in your arcade or something. Never have I plugged a Pandora into my home arcade and was like damn this menu is fucking sweet.

The point is that people find the current menu system to be inadequate and people can also desire nicer interfaces. There is nothing wrong with other options like game centered (rather than core) UI's, having box art or game descriptions.

A simple game list and auto loading core using a launcher would be fine similar to most multicarts. I want kids to be able to use the arcade cabinet without having to pick a core and doing extra steps. Until then MiSTer usage for arcade is more for hobbyists only.

;[MiSTer] ; lastcore - Autoboot the last loaded core (corename autosaved in CONFIG/lastcore.dat) first found on the SD/USB ; lastexactcore - Autoboot the last loaded exact core (corename_yyyymmdd.rbf autosaved in CONFIG/lastcore.dat) first found on the SD/USB

Why not both? Cool GUI and accurate cores. Don’t like the GUI, turn it off. Not sure why it’s a big deal.

So much this. Present the option, walk away. Instead we get this whole kerfuffle over it all!pic.twitter.com/0z4ini1ATr
