#MiSTerFPGA isn't a product. You might buy products related to the MiSTer project from third party independent sellers, but MiSTer itself isn't a product like an Analogue device. It's still okay to compare the two but it's an important distinction to consider.

Elaborate on what you consider the distinction to be and why it’s important.

One is a software platform that is readily available for anyone to install. The other is a fully packaged product you are buying from an entity in the form that it is.

I think Analogue products without jailbreak have questionable value.

But actually on this topic, I see it having no more, or less, value that the system it is recreating. For some it could even be more valuable as they can just plug it in and have it working, as well without going through mods to get that HDMI.

Personally, I find Analogue products to have no value except to scalpers, as no one else can buy them, so far. Maybe that'll change, but I'm taking their "anti-scalping" statement with a huge grain of salt.

"MiSTer itself isn't a product" lol wut!? Ya'll mofos are goofy. It is absolutely a productized landscape built around DE-10 nano. You are legit stupid to argue that it isn't a "product". It IS, period. Always will be.pic.twitter.com/wj6toThPmA

You've highlighted the wrong definition of product. We're comparing the top one. Oranges and tangerines was it?

I think we need to discuss MiSter "project" further. "In project management, products are the formal definition of the project deliverables that make up or contribute to delivering the objectives of the project". See also the associated "product line". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_(business) …pic.twitter.com/oRJXEL5irp
