      actually im starting to see what you mean. Then it made me think how you can buy preconfigured, fully assembled MiSTer units. So yeah, MiSTer is a product at this point, even if the creators/devs dont intend for it to be.

      Having worked on both open source and commercial "consoles", maybe the distinction is inherently more apparent to me but I'm also poor at explaining, words, and other non-coding skills.

      I get it... I worked on an open source hardware product that was coupled with software, it was still very much a product, as my *day job* and its $WidgetThing. It does get nebulous quick, especially if you are a pedant like I am. ;) alas, we digress again.
