As you know MiST** has inherent tons of things from the Minimig and MiST (both GPL3), look at the "Template_MiSTer" he forgets to include the license file, watch a video from Linus Torvalds talking about GPL2 vs GPL3 and slaps a GPL2 license on the repo! hahahaha

If you're not a lawyer and English isn't your first language it's plausible you'd copypasta whatever comes up first when you search "GPL" into your LICENSE file. It's probably safe to assume they won't care - let alone get mad - if derivatives of the framework were just GPL3.
