Sorg's rationale is that SNAC should only be merged for cores that have unique controllers that depend on CRT timings, eg. lightguns. For everything else, USB is good enough. I...disagree with that.
The problem with SNAC is not all the cores support it. Looks like only console cores. NES, SNES, Sega Master System, Genesis / Mega Drive, Mega CD and TurboGrafx-16 / TurboGrafx CD + PCE.
