I'd say it's not a bad solution for CPS if you're OK with "good enough", but for those of us who own the actual PCBs, there are still a ton of problems, graphical errors, and timing errors that you can notice. There is no wrong way to game though, so to each his/her own.
That’s kind of the crossroads; at what point is it good enough? For me I’m pretty much there. Unless it’s something truly nostalgic I want in my collection (SF2CE, FF) I think I’m ok. The added convenience of not having to swap boards in and out is also admittedly nice.
Totally agree. I mean, I more often now use MiSTer for CPS1 b/c the boards are so big and pulling them out is a pain. But still, what is truly great is that the options are now there!
I've never really dug MAME, or many of the other PC based emulators, so this really is a game changer for me personally. I'm going to have to seriously re-evaluate my staunch aversion to emulation solutions because of this. It WILL live in at least a few of my cabs for sure.
