Looks like Exa “preservation project” invitation.
Only real barrier to entry on "preservation" of @ShouTime's @exaarcadia platform is that $$$$. I will say paying several arcade scene dumpers to protect the intellectual property was a wise move. Laughable none the less.
As a new system, it doesn't need "preservation" now or anytime soon. Dumps of exA-Arcadia games would hurt the current arcade scene very badly and dumpers are arcade lovers above all so they don't need to be paid to be supportive.
lets say there are pro operators and the enthusiasts. one think that i know for sure is that games on any arcade platform are always get cracked and shared in the close group. It does not hurt the arcade scene as pro operators are the main target customers
You're right that it doesn't hurt as long as it stays in closed group but sooner or later, it gets leaked and if it's widely available, operators could use a copy and don't buy the game. It doesn't apply to games in dedicated cabinets of course (except for music games).
To be fair, let us not forget that @ShouTime historically accepted money to enable that exact landscape. It is a very thin line, with lots of gray areas regarding when it is OK to steal other peoples intellectual property. I mean "preserve" and "archive" it. Freudian slip!pic.twitter.com/tHJjGhsNZG
I mean literally... he is known for his network of intellectual property thieves. It has been openly touted for god knows how long.pic.twitter.com/DBWYSOJ1jZ
Come on. There's no common ground between dumping rare old games or prototypes for preservation and cracking new games currently sold to arcade operators. Please stop trolling for the sake of it.
