    Back then, "gamejam" was not a thing yet, and all the variants of it (GGJ, TrainJam, Ludum Dare, ...) were not invented yet either. Today, local GGJ here in Lithuania is usually ~300 people every year. Nice growth from "a dozen folks" back then :)

    I've open-sourced my home prototype engine with the MIT license. It contains a AAA-grade animation system, powered ragdolls, my prototype entity model (hybrid-ECS), libclang based reflection. a full resource system. Hopefully someone finds it useful 😅

    I will say what my advice has been for years: monetising a hobby is fucking miserable. Don’t make games as a job if you can do anything else. Do it as a hobby. Don’t expect to get lots of people to play the games you make. Same rules as starting a band, writing a novel, etc

    Smart folks at Unity have been building some sweet low level drawing APIs (targeted at DOTS, but can be used without). Check out the linked forum thread!

    A new Unity API allowing you to have GPU-persistent scene data (no need to upload per draw) and submit draws directly from Burst C# jobs. 32 bit integer handles for meshes/materials instead of slow main thread managed C# objects.
