Aral, do you think stock Android is worse, better, or the same as far as being a privacy nightmare. I think by default Android wants to let Google spy on you tremendously, but you can turn it off. Stock Android, with Google Play Services baked in, is the definition of surveillance capitalism. Microsoft could be more like Apple but I see them trying to play both sides of the fence. Nothing more than lip service at the moment.

Presumably, Google & Facebook will have to comply with the GDPR, but I don't know if that law has any teeth in it other than adding some more cryptic consent screens to force users to click through to use the services? If the EU can levy big fines, that may force them to behave.
