To understand the relationship between security and privacy, consider this: Google has great security but zero privacy. They keep your data (you) as safe as possible because it is not your data, it’s their data and they have a financial interest in protecting their assets (you).

(Google’s whole business model, on the other hand, is based on their ability to violate your privacy as deeply as possible. And, as evidenced by the frequent, wide-scale data breaches we’re seeing, most surveillance capitalists don’t have great security either.)
