Was included in a family tree on http://ancestry.com . I'm seriously reluctant for privacy reasons. Trying to find info about their privacy policy re. GDPR and I can't find a satisfying answer whether I have the right to be forgotten? @aral maybe knows?

Given that they also offer the possibility to add your DNA to the record is even more worrying. No way I would do this but me being part of a family tree where someone might have done this is already creepy enough.

That would be very good. It is a problem. In the case of FB you get a notification if you've got an account. And if you don't FB ask if you want to create an account. That way you know if someone added info about you. Don't know if the popular family tree websites do this?

Their problem with forgetting me is probably a problem of their product (this tree hierarchy offered up for search in exchange for money) being built as a tree which creates danglig sub-trees if I'm removed. They could still solve this by removing my info and keep the node.

Maybe that's possible, but I can't find any clear info in their support section about how I (without creating an account) can tell them not to include me. And even if I create an account it doesn't seem possible?

Clarification, after asking the person creating the family tree, him/her has not added it to Ancestry yet. And might not do it. But if they did I would have no indication whatsoever of having been added. That's quite worrying too...
