It's a tricky one though because some things genuinely are getting better and we shouldn't overlook/deny that, nor accept that cheering the good implies we're overlooking the hellish dystopia we're sliding into.

inequality, the rise of the far right and climate change are not a problem by themselves, their effects are. And what those graphs show is that their effect are either less than expected or not yet happening. Also, I think that environmental pollution has decreased since 1900.

Also, I quite like the approach of
@BjornLomborg saying that we should care directly about human lives and take measures for that instead of indirect measure with little effect (like having national agreements against climate change. Which are not bad but not very effective)
