You won't get it because your set on not getting it, but there's a big wall between our business development and product development teams. Google does not have influence over how or what we build in Firefox. We've made sure of that in our contracts going back to 2004.

I'm an outsider and Mozilla sympathizer and don't see it this way. Whether the contracts are clean, there's no way business decisions can be divorced from understanding the main source of revenue. It would be business malpractice if that was actually true.

Of course Mozilla has to abide by the contracts it signs and so product has to take that into account, but we make great contracts that don't unduly limit our product opportunities. We also keep the terms short so we can bail if the relationship gets in the way of our mission.

And we're always investigating (and investing in) alternative sources of revenue and funding models, as well as having a solid rainy day fund so that we're not pressured by our sustainability needs to compromise the mission which has always been about putting users first.

Which browser would you recommend then? I tried Opera for a while but FB ads went over the top. And not keen on using chrome.

So what is the solution? Use the browser from Google and pretend that isn’t broken?
