*stops hitting head on wall* OK, so, first read this to understand the business model difference between Apple & Google: https://ar.al/notes/apple-vs-google-on-privacy-a-tale-of-absolute-competitive-advantage/ … Then temper that by noting Apple’s actions when privacy isn’t an advantage, e.g., in China Then, let’s get to Apple vs Mozilla…https://twitter.com/FreakkaerF/status/979260274627706880 …

Seriously, this is not rocket science. An anti-gun group funded entirely by the NRA/the weapons industry = a health policy group funded entirely by Philip Morris/the tobacco industry = an ethical technology organisation funded entirely by Google/surveillance capitalism.https://twitter.com/aral/status/979325678498689024 …

What about „Mozilla’s search deal with Google expired in 2014.“?

Apple also makes money by twisting "standards" to their needs and locking users in a walled garden
-
Indeed. They’re closed, proprietary, and – as you said – a walled garden. They’re not your friend. But their business model (in the West) makes respecting privacy a competitive advantage.

Which browser would you suggest in this regard?
-
By all means, use Firefox if you want (with DuckDuckGo as your search engine & a tracker blocker like uBlock Origin). My problem is w Mozilla’s institutional corruption, their role in whitewashing surveillance capitalism, & defaults on Firefox. Personally, I use Safari on Mac/iOS

If you were a Windows user, like 90+% of the desktop users out there, which browser would you use?

Aral. Apple is more controlware than Google spyware, but it is just two sides of the same evil coin. I just got a car where intended navigation depends on constantly reporting location and speech to Apple, only due to Apples fucking bad design and dominant market position.
