By the way, if your magnum opus is a book called “Hooked: how to build habit-forming products” (& it’s an instruction manual, not a warning) maybe you should be the last person on Earth to argue that apps are not like cigarettes or, for that matter, write about ethics in tech.

Great question. As an alcoholic myself, I would want a service that respects that I'm differently-abled in the sense that I'm more vulnerable to triggers than e.g. a non-alcoholic. The app could be built on a network like Status, with a pay-what-you-like freemium model...
