Sincere question: if a “habit-forming product” would be designed to e.g. help people quit smoking while also respecting their privacy and giving them control of their data, would it be considered ethical? Thank you!

Hey Brian, let me ask the question back to you, slightly revised: What sort of app would smokers who want to quit design for themselves? How would it look if it was decentralised? What if we funded it with taxpayer money? (i.e., what if we started with a non-colonial approach?)

Great question. As an alcoholic myself, I would want a service that respects that I'm differently-abled in the sense that I'm more vulnerable to triggers than e.g. a non-alcoholic. The app could be built on a network like Status, with a pay-what-you-like freemium model...
