Yeah, Secure Scuttlebutt and DAT are good examples of append-only lists in the wild but they have their issues (no deletion, for example, which is a social use case).

I would argue that it's a feature, not a bug, that other people can't remotely delete files off of my computer.

The main point with append only lists is to avoid the jumbled or incomplete conversations which happen in the fediverse and can sometimes lead to misunderstandings
