Heerlijke lezing van @aral. Laten we in @stadgent een internet voor mensen maken. Count me in. Laat maar weten als'k kan helpen, @bartrosseau, ik kijk er naar uit mee te ontwikkelen.https://vimeo.com/234305186

Looking forward to your thoughts and feedback as we have something more to show. We just started working on it this month. Doing preliminary tests/research (keep an eye on https://indienet.info as it evolves as we’re developing it in the open. Currently has planning/dev docs.)

Solid and Mastodon aim at different scales: https://ruben.verborgh.org/blog/2017/12/20/paradigm-shifts-for-the-decentralized-web/#users-become-owners-p-3 … However, it is my understanding that
@aral plans to set up one Mastodon instance per user, so changing that picture. (And giving Ghent 250x the number of Mastodon instances currently in the world.)2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

Also, along the same line of thinking (and closer to what we had with our Syncthing-based storage mesh in Heartbeat), see the excellent
@matrixdotorg project and their “homeserver” approach. Bottom line: is it seamless, convenient, delightful?#design1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

And the question I'm curious about: (how) is it scalable?

Forgive my immense ignorance, but ActivityPub looks to me like a big'ol email protocol with more structured messages (and everyone hitting Reply All). Soooo since email seems to be working fine, wouldn't this work out too?
