Hey Aral! Hope you're doing well! I just wanted to let you know that we've released Paw 3.1.6 early May, and we've removed all metrics by HockeyApp. Thanks again for reporting this. -Micha
Thank you, @luckymarmot for respecting the privacy of your customers in your excellent Paw app (which is a cornerstone of my development toolbox and makes my life infinitely easier while testing REST APIs) :)

Thanks for the kind words, Aral! Let us know if you have any feedback in the future, it helps us a lot!
Thanks. Keep being awesome :)
Thanks for reporting this! This tracking is really disturbing, we’re going to investigate this. We use @hockeyapp for crash reporting, but clearly there’s no reason for them to send tracking messages when no crash has occurred. We honestly weren’t aware of this, sorry.
So sorry about the confusion with this! HockeyApp by default collects some very basic, anonymous, aggregated statistics about how the app is being used. We have documentation for how to disable that here: https://www.hockeyapp.net/help/sdk/mac/5.1.0/installation--setup.html#user-metrics …
Thanks for replying, Lukas. Can you please tell me how having device & user id, etc., is anonymous/aggregated? It is considered personal data under #gdpr and – given lack of consent/opt-in – should make Microsoft & devs liable for fines up to 4% of global revenue. CC @PaulNemitzpic.twitter.com/vNoMEV3dGm
The user ID is a GUID that’s created in first launch of the app and that’s stored in the keychain. It is deleted once the app is uninstalled. A fresh install is a new user ID. We don’t create a user or device ID that’s persisted.
The data in the screenshot is what was *transmitted* to Microsoft. It will be interesting to see how it holds up under #gdpr. This might be one of those interesting first cases for determining precedent perhaps, @PaulNemitz.
As Benjamin mentioned, the GUIDs in the data you observed are indeed generated, random values which don’t allow HockeyApp to identify a specific user or device and hence this data is also not affected by GDPR as it is not considered PII.
Nooo, I love @luckymarmot’s Paw, but I don’t like this tracking.. can you guys fix this?
I love the app too. Great app. But as long as it has this tracking I won’t recommend it to anyone.
