What’s harder to explain is why people so readily volunteer to become a slave to their own self-imposed bubble—or worse yet a product—just to simulate a feeling of ‘belonging’.

We do it for the same reason we use buses and trains and sidewalks and roads: they’re everyday infrastructure and we can’t all build our own. That’s why it’s essential that we fund/build such infrastructure from the commons for the good of the commons.
