We already have a democratic EU. At least, lobbying interests have much weaker leverage than elsewhere. We have the GDPR. Sure, still much to be done, but we are already on the right track

We managed to reunite Europe from under the US heel, and get as far as defining continent-wide fundamental, non-negotiable rights of privacy and data protection. Yes, the law did not come out of the EUP. So what. It's still strong enough to put GAFAM in line.

What we have is the heir of a coal and steel cartel. What I’d like to see is a democratic institution that isn’t corrupt. EC today is a hotbed of institutional corruption (lobbying, revolving doors, public-private partnerships, etc.) There’s a lot of work to be done to fix that.

Yes, never said we reached perfection. Still we're light years ahead of anyone else. In the past 48h alone we have slapped the platforms|more than the rest of the world combined ever. The Union is a good position to fight from.
