Mine is still set to DuckDuckGo after upgrading to Firefox Quantum? So no aggressive changing to Google.
Could that be because @DuckDuckGo is one of the options included in the default list? (Mozilla had to do that after they were shamed by Apple doing it first in Safari even though, you know, Mozilla is all about open and choice and all that and Apple is evil. How odd…
)
Hadn’t thought of that. Thanks for the elucidation.
Just a theory. @StartPageSearch should be able to update us on the latest state of this.
It's been a few years, but last time I looked into this, if the user had expressed intent by switching engines away from the default, we honored that choice, even if our default changed.
If someone (@StartPageSearch?) can give me steps to reproduce, I'll gladly file the bug.
Thanks, Dan, appreciate it.
Also, if you could, can you also file a bug about accepting hundreds of millions of dollars from a company (Google) that makes it by tracking and profiling people? That contradicts Mozilla’s stated ethos and should be fixed.

I'm proud that we're able to take hundreds of millions of dollars of Google's money and turn it toward the cause of a free and open Internet, and I believe we do this in a way that is ethical and consistent with our mission.
Just checked. I don't see any of this happening.
What say ye, @StartPageSearch? Has this been fixed?
intresting choice for new browser name

I can not confirm this, might have to do with StartPage. My Firefox kept @duckduckgo as default during update.
See a response and reactin higher up in this Twitter thread. It's a problem with non-default-listed searchengines.
Ah ok, good to know.
