Ohhh man, if you’re this fired up about Facebook’s ethics toward human well-being, just wait til you hear about these companies called Coca-Cola, Nestle, and Walmart.

Yes, capitalism is fucked up. Your point is?

I’ll probably come off sounding like a shill for FB here, which is, whatever. But Zuckerberg seems much more engaged & willing to deal w/ the privacy & consumer monitoring issues that u bring up. The corporations I listed have long been guilty of plugging their ears to criticism.
-
Facebook’s business model is based on privacy violation. They cannot “fix” that without going bankrupt. I say fix in quotes because, as far as they’re concerned, nothing is broken. They make a lot of money violating your privacy.

But then nobody should have an internship at Google , Facebook or Amazon ? I don't think it will help change with regard to their practices.
-
I’d love to see how a couple of interns (or anyone else) will change the business model of a hugely successful multi billion dollar company.
-
i was just wondering if boycotting is the best way to change bad practices, maybe it is, but then i know many other industries where you shouldn't have an internship
-
Brain drain is, definitely. If they become socially unacceptable (already starting to happen), they will have trouble employing the best of the best. Otherwise, regulating their abuses (already starting to happen) + funding/creating ethical alternatives (very early stages).

Great point. Where students should intern instead? Any recommendations?
-
I feel there’s a missing resource for this… a list of ethical companies for design students to intern at. CC

Perhaps you should have prefaced your tweet with “In your opinion...”
-
This is not a matter of opinion. Those are facts. That is facebook business model. Soon part of it may also hopefully be illegal due to the GDPR and other soon to be european legislation.

Sadly life is a pool of always finding the gullible fish that will take the bait. Corporate, political and all the way down to personal. Pattern of human behaviour doesn't lie and won't change
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Virtually all businesses in the world now are like that sadly.

Except those who aren’t
