The aforementioned clueless butthurt soliloquy:
1. Conflates Mastodon with an instance of Mastodon (that’s like conflating email & @FastMail)
2. Conflates private property with freedom of speech (that’s like wanting a right to go into anyone’s home to say whatever you like)

3. Conflates freedom of speech with an obligation to listen. (You’re free to speak, not free to compel anyone to listen. Your right to freedom of speech does not negate my right to not listen to you should I not want to.) TL;DR: That article is bullshit.

By the reductionist view that talking to oneself is sufficient free speech, then yes...
-
I hadn’t even realised that you’d written that. You of all people should know better, Roy. Set up your own instance (or join one with terms of service you agree to). Mastodon lets you do that while you couldn’t with Twitter.

I've written about censorship for years and read about the topic every single day. See what I said at the end: the software is good, the federation there is the problem
-
Federation is the possibility to have multiple, cooperating newspapers instead of a single global newspaper controlled by a single instance. Freedom of press and therefore speech is based on this.

@schestowitz I believe it's technical despite what you feel. I'm very interested in what you are writing but I can't handle the volume "like the volume I post" so I had to mute you. My wall was full of your posts and I had to scroll and scroll long to see something else. -
It's technical. Mastodn wall can get flooded like DDOS if someone post too much. Participants must be able to set up their filters to be able to enjoy their wall feed @Gargron Mastodon is great, just not perfect yet.
