What search engine do you recommend that is a bit more privacy focussed?

I'd rather recommend
@QwantCom: "real" search engine (and not a proxy), not hosted on Amazon, not under the Patriot Act (hosted in EU), etc. - 1 more reply

They're bowing to user demand IMO. Up to us to change that. They tried influencing users, ppl got annoyed with the default.

I doubt this is bc Mozilla receives help or money from Google. (Does it actually receive money?)

It used to receive ~$400M a year from them, yes. Not sure what their deal is currently with this.
