But certainly only part of the toolset for decentralization, I agree. And yes, get-richer-quick and "blockchain cult" folk are annoying!

Ultimately blockchain is just a new form of distributed database. We're on a "path to boring", where you just want them to be off-the-shelf.

No silver-bullet, just another microservice which you may have a use for. And crypto-currencies are just one application (boring at that).

Most interesting aspects of blockchains to me have always been as a coordination mechanism to empower peer-to-peer applications.

And to automate business processes. The paperless society finally happening for real, because you can de-silo stuff out of corporations.

And also to enable individuals to build collective/cooperative kind of stuff together, and/or to enable free markets to form at all levels.
