Uber knowingly 1. Violated the privacy of @Apple’s customers 2. Hid what they did from Apple They should be barred from the App Store.pic.twitter.com/6aYjEWABfL

Here’s the gist of it: if some independent developer did what @Uber did to @Apple, they’d be barred for life. Why isn’t Uber, @tim_cook?

What I would be interesting to know is how it passed their “rigorous” testing. No way that was not caught during either manual or automated.

See the article, they geofenced Apple so that it would behave differently for them. They actively camouflaged it.

And even worse, controlled by a few dozen white males living mainly in CA and WA. So few ones, from a single country & poor diversity.

It would destroy their business overnight. A lot of people depend on them. Apple made the right choice.

I think that's kind of the point, preventing people from building their business on something Apple does not want to allow.

Being pragmatic - they couldn't do it. Users would hate it etc. It is an interesting problem though, 'too big to reject'.

It's not a matter of "couldn't", it's a matter of "wouldn't". Apple absolutely could, and with their marketing budget, do it well.

It's time to demand a complete reform of Uber. I like ride-sharing, and I love Lyft, but I'd like competition too.

What do you mean? Just delete the app and do not install it again later. Then you will not be re-identified. That’s whats meant by tracking.
