Email is anything but private :) Especially hosted (Gmail, etc.) Not unless it’s encrypted.

well this is true in a technical sense, but you know what I mean. General public can't read your emails but they can read your tweets

Yep, makes it less of an issue for Mastodon (private messages aside). There’s no expectation of privacy.

The impersonation issue I discussed later in thread is one of their major issues. The UI on Masto de-emphasizes the instance part of the ID.
