Since I've had a few questions; the 3 tools are for different purposes: 1. Prevents apps from “phoning home” without your knowledge. (1/3)https://twitter.com/aral/status/842642435226419202 …
2. Prevents apps from accessing files and other resources on your machine (e.g., webcam/microphone) without your knowledge/permission (2/3)
3. (A tool that Laura & I make) Protects you from being tracked on the web when browsing in Safari on iPhone, iPad & Mac. (3/3)
I think you forgot your VPN again
Also, how do you handle “Fraudulent sites” setting?
Ah, yes. It’s just so beautifully invisible that I do forget it often :)
I'm still curious how you view the built-in fraudulent site protection (built into most browsers). Privacy threat?
which one is the best?
They're for different things. I'll tweet an explainer publicly next :)
thanks!
Any Linux recommendations? Ublock, of course, but what else?
Firefox 1. Privacy badger: https://www.eff.org/privacybadger 2. Ublock (origin) 3. Self destructing cookies:https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/self-destructing-cookies …
Privacy Badger looks great, thx!
privacybadger can break many websites like stackexchange. You'll have to manually intervene to make it work @SuperLisaa @aral
I think I can live with that.
these look good
Little Snitch is great but has more options than most home users need. A simpler and cheaper firewall would be great.
