You are allowed to hate harmful ideas. In fact, morality demands it.

-
When we conflate protecting people with protecting ideas, we fail to protect people from those ideas that seek to harm them.
-
e.g., You can’t protect people from prosecution based on their orientations without criticising religions that label them for prosecution.
-
Twitter is wrong (& punching down by siding with religious privilege) by encouraging criticism of religions (ideas) to be reported as abuse.

Not criticism–hate. There's a difference. Should state hate in general though, not just in those contexts.
-
You are allowed to hate ideas that deserve to be hated. The problem here is conflating ideas and people, not criticism and hate.
-
You need to change people's minds, and you're not going to achieve that by spewing hate or offending them.
-
Indeed. However, hating a thing is a prerequisite to battling it. If we didn’t hate inequality we would not battle for equality.
-
I guess it depends on one's interpretation of the word hate. In my mind, a person who hates, is no longer capable of rational behavior

you can do better than yelling fuck […], don’t you think? I do!
-
That was an example of me violating the current rules. I just directed hate against three major ideologies (religions).
-
you naughty boy, you! I sometimes cross the street at red lights, just to break a rule ;-)

Directing hate towards someone because of their religion, is abuse. Whether you agree with their religion or not.
-
Exactly. The form isn't worded in that way though (key missing words "someone (person) … because of"
-
'People' is definitely missing from these statements. But it is equally abusive to direct hate towards a group because of [x].

directing hate ≠ criticism. First is unproductive and in my op. not legit, the other is needed (and allowed by twitter).
