Most of the folks I know who use Windows do so because Mac is unaffordable or unavailable in their region.

Entirely valid point, of course. All the more reason we need Mac-style convenience in affordable “free as in feeedom” systems.

I'd really like to see more outreach from the very white Linux community to these communities worldwide. So far, very little.

Great question - I think for starters, it's purely a matter of awareness. I know plenty who haven't tried Linux since it was terrible
