It doesn’t look like it (see follow-up tweets) – apps submitted after ours seems to have been reviewed/released already.
Oh well. Maybe They have some priority queue type implementation. (Based on trusted devs/ app category/ whatever else). Hypothesizing.
I’d agree *if* the platform was fully open source and we had automated checks that guaranteed binaries came from said source.
(And I’d love to see such a platform, btw. But we’re not there yet.)
Quite. The predicament it creates is, you concede or else can't trade. That kind of 'customers as hostages' scam ought to be illegal.
You should start to worry that you are required to register & submit your product for approval before you can sell it. It worries me.
Indeed. And yet I see the advantages of a review process for security but not one this opaque.
The security benefits are minimal. Apple will still approve state sanctioned malware & crooks will still circumvent automated checks.
The ugliest aspect to this kind of 'registration & approval' regime is when your interests directly conflict with the platform maker's
