Any lawyers out there willing to pro bono bring a case against Facebook for using “private” when the service isn’t?pic.twitter.com/niDxvmXaQe
@aral I believe facebook just goes ahead and redefines the word private inside their privacy policy?
@codedit I’m not entirely sure they’re allowed to do that—at least when used outside their policy to reach people who haven’t agreed to it.
@aral yes, you’ve got a good point there, probably would turn in to a difficult long court case though
@aral unfortunately the US doesn't really have a concept of the Misdescriptions Act. Most of their TV advertisements would fall foul.
@samsoir Hmm, but the beauties of a global service, no? We have it here. Wonder which jurisdictions they could be liable under.
@aral I would place more faith in the EU government over the UK to hear the case. Have I mentioned how much I love Europe recently?
@aral As likely as it is, are you sure Facebook has unrestricted read access to Moments?
@pcperini If they don’t, they are failing their shareholders.
@aral not everything is a 1-1 channel for ad revenue. This is p obvs a land grab v Snapchat and as such will require different tactics.
@aral If Facebook means "private" it means "private + Facebook". And in other news, Belgium is sueing them: http://thestack.com/belgium-sues-facebook-150615 …
