The problem with Linux companies is that they’re still making operating systems in a world of integrated, seamless experiences. (1/2)

@TheRealDod Yep :) I use distributed topology and p2p interchangeably.

@aral Don't you think ubuntu fits that description? -
@jnfbatista Can I buy an UbuntuBook? Does it come with *distributed* (not centralised) services/storage. Nope. It could. But not today :) -
@aral You're right, but afaik there are no companies that sell products with distributed services. And you have vendors with ubuntu hw. -
@aral but I'd love for them to take you up on your challenge :)

@aral those distros also don't come with flying cars. there simply isn't yet a working scalable really distributed (no SPOF) storage system. -
@aral blaming gnu/linux distributors (of all people) for having not yet solved this particularly difficult problem is unreasonable imho -
@wiretapped Not for not yet solving. For not realising that it’s the problem. -
@aral that some people are busy working on other problems (w/ more obvious solutions) doesn't mean they don't realize this is a problem too -
@aral but anyway, a good solution to decentralized storage won't be one based around a single OS. you're barking up the wrong tree.

@aral btw google is providing precisely that, with both ChromeOS and Android (which is a great example of why distributed != decentralized)Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
