@ThomasLazar_ Any specific reasons? (aral@ind.ie — or I’ve followed you, if you’d rather DM) — thanks! :) -
@aral to say it crudely… same shit, different color… if you want equality, human rights and stuff… Scandinavia is currently best choice imho -
@ThomasLazar_ Thanks, appreciate the tip. We’re considering the usual Scandinavian suspects: Sweden, Norway, and Denmark :) -
@aral@ThomasLazar_ DON'T GO TO SWEDEN. Nor Denmark. Norway is a good option. -
@ncilla@ThomasLazar_ Just heard Norway is getting biometric national IDs. Anywhere good, these days? (Iceland ain’t gonna hold us all) :) -
@aral@ThomasLazar_ Norway has the better economic climate, Germany more vigilant citizens. Switzerland is not so nice towards foreigners. -
@ncilla@EveryCountry invited us to his private island in Panama recently. That’s sounding better and better everyday ;-) +@ThomasLazar_ - 1 more reply

@aral Would you argue a Labour government would have been better on digital rights? -
@graphiclunarkid I’m not a Labour supporter but I’d argue they would not have been as bad. Who knows, though; there’s a reason they lost. -
@aral I disagree. ID cards, contact-point, DEAct, 42 days detention without trial (they wanted 90). Blair wanted DNA to be taken at birth! -
@graphiclunarkid Blair’s an ass. Was doing a proj @ No. 10. He was in next room. They asked if I’d like to meet him: “not really, thank you” -
@aral Ha! Respect :) It's not just Blair, though. Labour is still an illiberal party. Look at e.g. control orders -> TPIMs debate last parl. - End of conversation

@aral you'll be missed -
@emilyaturner Thanks, Emily. Thankfully always a plane ride / a couple of data packets away :) -
@aral :) I found Iceland inspirational btw ... -
@emilyaturner I’m planning on visiting very soon; need to get it in the schedule ASAP :) -
@aral I had an epiphany there and changed everything I was doing, so be warned! -
@emilyaturner Duly noted :)
