The press release on the Apple/IBM health data sharing partnership:http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/ibm--apple-expand-partnership-to-help-transform-medical-research-300064967.html …
-
@aral so it does specifically say “opt in” - and even then “de-identify” -
@phil_nash I want to know if not opting in means you don’t get to use HealthKit. De-identification implies IBM initially gets your identity. -
@aral from what I’ve read before opting in is about sharing the data off device. You can still use HK on device. ResearchKit required opt-in

@aral Why are you assuming has access to your health data? They make a big deal out of privacy, I don’t think it ever leaves your phone -
@doney Not assuming, they just announced this: http://www.informationweek.com/big-data/big-data-analytics/apple-ibm-partner-for-healthcare-analytics/d/d-id/1319959 … -
@aral I don’t see a press release, the reporter could be wrong. -
@aral Alright, then they should definitely communicate this and hopefully reassure that it is opt-in.
