@aral I had the same issue. The only way I resolved it was manually setting the background color to transparent on everything... -

@aral you're not calling -setWantsLayer: on the view after setting the layer; not sure if it will make a difference, though (probs not). -

@aral Yes, it's necessary (at least used to be). I bet there's just code in AppKit to detect that mistake and do the right thing. -
