@hyper_linda@aral ethical choice -

@hyper_linda@andylolz Thankfully, that’s not the dichotomy you’re faced with (you can also work on free/indie tech or do something else) :) -
-
@hyper_linda That’s disingenuous and a false dichotomy. We, of all people, have the privilege to decide what we work on. -
@aral maybe you have the privilege to chose what you work on but a lot of people don't. -
@aral my parent's don't have extra property they can sell to allow me to work on what I want - 2 more replies

@RolandJamez@YourAnonNews Bullshit. It’s exactly rich white people who make up the bulk of proprietary tech industry. -
@aral@YourAnonNews enjoy your privilege mate
-
@RolandJamez@YourAnonNews If you can code, you have privilege. Use it for good. -
@aral@YourAnonNews Lol...whatever helps you sleep at night Mayo...

@aral I think this is a pretty dumb statement. -
@lewisflude Not if you see proprietary tech as a negative influence on society & people. Watch his talk when it’s out for full context. -
@aral Oh yeah, it does make sense in the right context actually. Is his talk online? -
@lewisflude Not yet. It’s still being live steamed. (See my previous tweets for the link.) -
@aral Thanks! :)

@aral this is so out there. There is nothing morally or ethically wrong with working on proprietary software. Period -
To imply at all that somehow people who work on proprietary software are morally inferior is ridiculous and arrogant.
-
To say that they would literally be better off doing nothing with their lives is extremely insulting on top of being completely insane.
