Think of Pulse as a free and open BitTorrent Sync. It’s aimed at technical users / developers at the moment.

@aral BT Sync is free isn't it? But not open, true. -
@philiprenich I thought they charged. But yes, free as in freedom not free as in cost. -
@aral Free as in freedom. I like that. Just saw that there is BitTorrent Sync (product) - free. And BTSync (service, not affiliated) - cost

@aral GPL3 or later does not stop me making a web service using your software and not releasing the source code, you want the AGPL for that -
@stevepurkiss Hey Steve, it’s peer to peer so you’d need to release the source if you modified it or your peers couldn’t download it. -
@aral ...and not have to release the code. The internet is just a network of peers... peer to peer just means more than one server. -
@stevepurkiss We can re-evaluate at some point if there is a real danger but we just did a major license change :) +@jakobborg -
.
@aral@jakobborg shame freedom is such complicated subject, was hoping you'd nailed it but understand commercial pressures may mean no AGPL -
@stevepurkiss Dude, my goal is to make everything we do as free as in freedom as possible. If we missed something, we can fix :)+@jakobborg -
@aral@jakobborg just alerting to seriousness of incorrect licencing, hope you manage to sort it out - software freedom law centre can help. -
@stevepurkiss@jakobborg Again, it’s our reading that GPLv3 will cover this but will ask Richard & EFF to make sure (& thanks for heads up). - 1 more reply

@aral ...and is there any chance of using a config that isn't XML? Something like YAML? -
@kevinisageek Hey Kevin, awesome to hear you’re playing with it. Have you seen the REST API? I have a Node consumer for that…
