Is there a good reason Swift uses double quotes instead of single for strings? Why 100% extra effort for such a common token?

@aral You could also complain about { } : & | ? ! < > + ( ) and many other equally taxing characters -
@pilky And we should. How much RSI could be saved from their cumulative effects if we considered the ergonomics of our token choices? -
@aral First off, if your shift key is causing you that much pain you should probably be resting as you can't avoid it when programming -
@pilky It’s not causing me pain but that’s not the point. Nothing you’ve mentioned actually gives a good answer to my original question :)

@aral not 100% extra effort if you touch type. More like 50%. Your pinky has to be somewhere. It's either resting on A or pressing shift.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@aral Maybe if someone could calculate the extra micro-calories involved it could become seen as a fitness featureThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
